Released yesterday via Memorials of Distinction, 'Byre one' is the official debut offering from Gg. Consisting of Mike O’Malley, Jasper Llewellyn and Casper Hughes (the 3 founding members of experimental folk outfit caroline), the origins of Gg predate the aforementioned octet's eponymous debut album, which came out via Rough Trade in 2022. Born from extensive improvisation, the 8-minute offering was recorded in Scotland and captures the trio's meditative communication through music. Distant vocals call out into an airy space as scattered rhythms and strung out guitars overlap organically, have the effect of slowing down time and encouraging you to hone in on every minute decision.
